Bernhard Rietsche GmbH was founded in 1883 to manufacture bee comb foundation machines and beekeeping equipment. The focus of the company quickly shifted to the development and production of machines for making beeswax foundation sheets. This was followed by the development of the bee comb foundation rolling machine and, shortly afterwards, the development and construction of the first fully-automated bee comb foundation pouring machine, which even today remains the leading machine for producing poured beeswax foundation sheets.

Since 1987, Bernhard Rietsche GmbH has also been involved in CNC sheet metal machining as a supplier to the manufacturers of laser, stamping and bending components. In 2004 the company moved from its old site to a newly built location. In this spacious building, equipped with modern facilities, parts are manufactured for the electrical, electronic and medical technology industries and the general engineering industry using high-performance production facilities.
